BUTTE – Top officials from the environmental protection agency are expected to come to the Butte area next week to address cleanup issues.
Regional EPA Director Doug Benevento and the EPA administrator’s senior aid Albert Kelly will come in from Washington D.C. to visit Butte and Anaconda to talk about several environmental cleanup issues that are in process.
The visit comes after a recent agreement was reached in the cleanup in Butte.
“They can give us a schedule for the proceedings before Judge Haden to try to lift the confidentiality order for a certain amount of information that we can start sharing with the public and taking, I think, another major step forward to get this deal done,” said Butte Planning Director Jon Sesso.
The EPA officials will hold a public meeting beginning at 10 a.m. at the Butte Public Archives to discuss this issue.
