MISSOULA – Veterans struggling with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) often find themselves isolated from their communities and families.
But one non-profit hopes to engage veterans in their community and help them enjoy the natural beauty of the Treasure State.
Xsports4vets held their second annual fundraiser in Missoula’s Florence Building on Saturday to support their excursions.
The group offers all kinds of sporting trips for veterans, ranging from whitewater rafting to aviation to deep country backpacking.
The eight-year-old organization held an auction and a silent auction, as well as a dinner with live music to raise money.
Xsports4vets Director Steven Hale says it’s a necessity to safeguard our returning veterans.
"Veterans are still coming home, and you know, we still have a war going on. And programs like ours need to be around," Hale said.
"They can support us financially, donating their time even just pointing veterans in our direction is key. We can really take care of the rest," he added.
Around 200 community members came out to show their support for the cause.
