Property secured for Butte Rescue Mission

Posted

BUTTE – The Butte Rescue Mission this week purchased the property on East Platinum Street to be used as the site for its new homeless shelter.

The mission closed on the deal Wednesday to purchase the warehouse district property at 610 E. Platinum St. for $185,000, according to a news release issued by the rescue mission. The mission had a purchase agreement in place on this property last fall, but couldn’t close on the deal until the BNSF Railway, whose property runs through the land up for sale, lifted restrictions on the deed.

Wednesday’s sale was aided by a $400,000 donation by Town Pump Inc. this week, according to the rescue mission.

Once the infrastructure is in place, the mission will move its portable housing unit to the site from North Dakota. The new shelter, called the Center of Hope, will house 56 people.
