BOZEMAN- The 12th Annual MSU Top of the West Colt Sale took place today at the Copper Spring Ranch.
The MSU Boosters partners up with MSU’s Equine Science Program to raise colts that have been donated to the school.
Students spend two semesters training the horses in order for them to be sold to buyers from around the nation.
Kearsten Friedrich is an MSU junior in the class.
She says it will be hard to say goodbye to Queenie, the horse she has been training every day for the past year.
“I hope to see where she goes, and I hope she gets to have a great home. She has been a lot of fun to learn with,” said Friedrich.
18 horses were trained and sold this year.
On average they sell for around $4,000.
The money then gets donated to improve MSU’s Equine Science Program.
“This sale, the work of the boosters, we like to think has helped the cause,” said Equine Boosters Chairman Brent Poppe.
