BUTTE – On April 14, 2018, at approx. 9:30 am officers responded to the area of Browns Gulch road on a reported theft of gas from a private residence, a description of the vehicle was given by the complainant.
Officers spotted the vehicle in the area of Provost Road and Browns Gulch road.
The vehicle turned onto Provost Road and attempted to elude the officers.
The suspect vehicle then turned onto private property, where it became stuck.
The officers approached the vehicle and removed a male driver, the passenger a female then lit some clothing on fire along with some gas that was inside the vehicle and fled toward the residence.
The suspect then got into a vehicle that belonged to the residence, and an officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver of the vehicle drug the officer for a short distance.
The officer was able to get free and fired the duty weapon at the vehicle, the vehicle then fled the scene as was stopped a short distance later by other officers.
The officer received minor injuries no one else was injured.
Two suspects a male and a female are in custody and the Department of Criminal Investigations has been called in to assist in the investigation.
