MISSOULA – Details are emerging about the budget and personnel cuts being proposed at the University of Montana as the school continues to deal with declining student enrollment.
A draft of the recommendations – called the "University of Montana Strategy for Distinction" – was posted on the UM website on Tuesday morning. UM President Seth Bodnar will be detailing the plan to the Faculty Senate at 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
The draft proposal calls for the elimination of dozens of jobs as well as the elimination or consolidation of several University of Montana programs
In a letter accompanying the draft proposal, Bodnar notes the proposals in the draft report are preliminary at this time and public input and feedback will be sought.
UM will be holding a series of presentations and listening sessions to discuss the proposals in the coming days.
– April 17, 3 p.m., in the Music Hall Recital: President Bodnar will present the preliminary recommendations for UM’s future at a special session of Faculty Senate.
– April 20, 4 p.m., in SS 352: President Bodnar and members of the UPC will host a campus forum for all employees to provide an overview of the preliminary recommendations.
– April 24 & 26, 3 p.m., in SS 352: Faculty Senate will host listening sessions open to all faculty and staff.
