BUTTE – A 45-year-old man is dead after being struck by a vehicle in Butte after an argument.
According to a press release, Butte Police Officers responded to a call at the 400 block of Greenwood at approximately 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 19, when a woman said she saw a man on the road and thought he might be injured.
The woman told officers that she and the man were arguing over private property and that when she drove away the man ran alongside her truck then jumped on the running board. At some point, the man either fell or jumped from the running board while the vehicle was in motion. Police said it appears the man was struck by the rear of the vehicle.
The man was transported to St. James Healthcare, where he reportedly died as the result of his injuries.
His body has been transported to the Montana State Crime Lab by Butte-Silver Bow Coroner Lee LaBreche. An autopsy is pending.
The names of the individuals involved are not being released at this time.
The incident remains under investigation by Butte-Silver Bow law enforcement and the Montana Highway Patrol.
