BUTTE- Butte’s Herberger’s started its going-out-of-business sale along with the other 249 Bon Ton Inc. stores around the country.
The store is currently offering up to 30 percent off on items. The sale is expected to last about 10 to 12 weeks.
Customer Debbie Garverich has been shopping at the Butte Herberger’s since it opened and is sad to see it close.
"I hate it, I hate seeing everything go dead. You know, it used to be so much fun to see the life and the people out and about and you could find anything you wanted without having to go to the big towns and now it’s just very very limiting," said Garverich.
Claire’s, JCPenney, Vanity, and RUE21 are all stores that the Butte Plaza Mall has lost over the years. Butte Plaza Mall Operations Manager Alana Ferko says it has been a rough week but the Butte community continues to show support.
"Every five feet it was another hug and people saying how much they love the store and how sad they are. There is a lot of sadness and still some shock but the only way through this is forward," said Ferko.
Ferko said she plans on talking with the Chamber of Commerce and Chief Executive Palmer soon to make a plan for businesses to come into the mall.
