HELENA – The graduations have already started for a special group at Carroll College.

On Wednesday, students in the anthrozoology program walked their four-legged friends on stage for a graduation ceremony after completing training to become service animals, narcotics dogs, and search and rescue animals.

Now that the dogs have graduated, they’re ready to move on and will be adopted.

Some will become regular pets and others will go on to do what they were trained for.

Those who have trained the animals in class said watching the dogs transform and learn new skills is one of the best parts.

"All of our dogs come from shelters, so they come in with separation anxiety and behavior problems. So seeing where the dogs start out to how they are when they go into their forever families is probably the most rewarding and spectacular part of it," Bridget Bloesch, a Carroll College senior, said.

Each student approves the adoption before their dog enter into its new home.

The majority of the dogs in the program have already been adopted. To view all of this year’s graduates, click here.
