BUTTE – Butte police are looking for a man that lead them on a nearly hour-long chase through town Thursday night.
Officers tried to pull over a man in a pickup truck who was wanted in Gallatin County for the theft of firearms. The driver led police on a high-speed chase all over town, continuing to drive even when police were able to flatten some of his tires with road spikes.
The chase was eventually called off because of safety concerns.
“It was approaching Montana and Iron Street, traffic started getting a little heavier at that time the pursuit was terminated by the lieutenant on duty, moments later we located the vehicle parked on Jackson Street just south of Park Street,” said Butte Undersheriff George Skuletich.
Police say they have a possible identity on the driver, who is from Butte.
