BUTTE – The long wait is over. Butte’s new outdoor swimming pool officially opened to the public Wednesday.
A line quickly gathered outside the Ridge Waters pool at Stodden Park before the doors opened at noon. Hundreds of kids and adults enjoyed the first day of swimming and testing out all the features at the $8.7 million water park that was approved by voters in 2016.
“This is what it’s about. The kids coming in here enjoying it. It’s been 12, 13 year really since we’ve had a pool. We’ve got a generation of kids who grew up without a pool, it’s time that we had one,” said Butte Parks and Recreation Director JP Gallagher.
The pool will remain open throughout the summer until September.
