Severe storms possible for Thursday afternoon

Today’s Forecast:
Strong thunderstorms are expected to develop in southwest Montana Thursday afternoon.  These storms will be capable of producing small-to-moderate hail, damaging wind in excess of 60 mph, and pockets of heavy rain.  Highs will top out in the 70s will fuel the potential for strong storms.

BOZEMAN: High – 78; Low – 49. Temperatures will warm quickly into the 70s before thunderstorms develop during the afternoon.  A few of those storms could produce hail and gusty wind as well as heavy rain.

BUTTE: High – 73; Low – 46. Temperatures will warm into the 70s with scattered thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening.

DILLON: High – 74; Low – 45. There is a slight chance of strong thunderstorms developing in the afternoon.  Some storms could produce small hail and gusty wind.

WEST YELLOWSTONE: High – 74; Low – 42. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible for the afternoon and evening. 


SEVERE WEATHER FOR THURSDAY
The setup for severe weather is centered on Eastern Montana and Western North Dakota today.  Storms are expected to develop over the Madison Valley between 2-3 PM and pick up in intensity as the system moves eastward.  Main threats will be hail and gusty wind with periods of heavy rain expected.
