Zinke defends travel habits as Interior secretary in Billings interview

BILLINGS – Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke was in Billings Wednesday and sat down with Q2 News Director Jon Stepanek for an interview on a wide variety of topics. 

Zinke was confirmed as Interior secretary in March 2017 and is the first Montanan to occupy a cabinet position. 

As the head of the Interior Department, he directs an agency that controls one-fifth of the nation’s landmass. He manages more than 70,000 employees.  

Zinke was elected to the Montana Senate in 2009. He won elections for Montana’s at-large congressional district in 2014 and 2016. 

In the video above, he discussed investigations into his travel as Interior secretary and his views of President Trump.
