A 21-year-old woman was killed in a two-vehicle collision near Gallatin Gateway just before midnight Tuesday.

The crash happened on U.S. Highway 191 near Cottonwood Road. The woman crossed the center line and hit a truck heading southbound, according to Montana Highway Patrol.

First responders had to pry the truck door open to help the two passengers inside. The driver had to be transported via LifeFlight to the hospital, while the passenger took an ambulance. The extent of their injuries is not known at this time.

The woman died at the scene, according to MHP, and was improperly wearing her seatbelt, with only the lap belt secured and the shoulder strap behind her body. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash.

The names of the people involved in the crash have not been released. This incident is the 67th fatality on Montana roads this year.
