Strong thunderstorms possible Tuesday afternoon in SW Montana

Today’s Forecast:
A few strong thunderstorms are possible in southwest Montana for your Tuesday afternoon and early evening.  Most of the strong thunderstorms are expected east of the divide with a few isolated storms possible west of the divide early in the afternoon.  Temperatures are expected to top out near the 90° make which will provide energy for developing storms.

BOZEMAN: High – 92; Low – 52. A few strong storms are possible during the afternoon with wind picking up during the evening..

BUTTE: High – 87; Low – 48. A hot afternoon with an isolated chance of an isolated thunderstorm in the area.

DILLON: High – 90; Low – 49. Temperatures will be hot with a very slim chance for a developing thunderstorm.

WEST YELLOWSTONE: High – 83; Low – 45. Look for a mild afternoon with a few mountain thunderstorms possible during the afternoon and early evening.


TUESDAY’S STORM OUTLOOK
There is a slight risk for strong thunderstorms in SW Montana for your Tuesday afternoon and early evening.  The main risk is for small-to-moderate hail and wind in excess of 60 mph with a few of these storms.  The risk window for our region holds from about 3 PM through 8 PM.  Highs near 90°, ample moisture in the middle atmosphere, and an approaching cold front will bring the combination for these storms to develop.
