BUTTE – Despite a busy day at the polls Tuesday evening, Butte election offices reported have a smooth night in counting all those votes.

Butte Clerk and Recorders officials reported Silver Bow County was one of the first elections offices to have all their ballots counted and turned over to the state. Clerk and Recorder Sally Hollis credits her experienced staff and two new ballot-counting machines that helped get the results tabulated quickly that evening.

“Well, the two brand new machines we have worked awesome. Because you can do about 300 ballots a minute, we don’t do that many because I don’t want to overload that machine, but also an awesome staff that is trained well and just work great as a team,” said Clerk and Recorder Sally Hollis.

She added this was the busiest midterm election she has seen since taking office.
