Copper prices hit record high

BUTTE – Montana Resources mining company is celebrating recent record-breaking copper prices.

COMEX reported copper prices topping out at $6.70 per pound Thursday. This is a yearly increase of about 52 percent. This time last year, copper was sitting at about $4.50 per pound.

Montana Resources produces between 54 million and 70 million pounds of copper per year.
