The Missoula City-County Health Department (MCCHD) on Monday reported 59 additional COVID-19 cases since the Friday update.
There are currently 259 active cases in Missoula County and over 1,160 close contacts are being monitored.
Local public health officials are reporting 809 cumulative cases* to date in Missoula County, including six epi-linked cases.**
MCCHD's COVID-19 Infectious Disease Team is monitoring active cases, as well as performing contact tracing efforts seven days a week.
The health department nores that of the 259 active cases, 49% are associated with a known case, 31% are community-acquired, and 15% remain pending investigation. Cases are still being seen in the 20-29-year-old demographic with 52% of active cases falling within this age range, according to a news release.
There have been 547 recoveries and three COVID-19 related deaths to date. Additionally, 12 people are hospitalized in Missoula County due to COVID-19 including six county residents.
A dozen new cases are being reported from the University of Montana, bringing the cumulative total to 112. There are 78 cases reported in the Monday update.
MCCHD reports the Public Health Information Line (258-INFO) was experiencing a high volume of calls on Monday. While the line capacity was boosted on Monday morning, some people may still experience wait times.
Missoula became the first major city in Montana to require the wearing of face coverings on July 9.
