Shane Lee Trombley has been charged after he allegedly tried to break into a Great Falls residence on Sunday night.

Court documents say that officers were called to a home on the 1600 block of 7th Avenue South for a report of a suspicious man who was trying to enter homes in the area. An officer found Trombley, who said that his sister lived nearby, and also said that he knew the woman who lived at the house he was trying to enter.

The woman inside came out and told police that she had no idea who Trombley was and that he was not welcome there. The woman told the officer that she had interacted with Trombley earlier when she saw him in the area and he tried to help her retrieve her dog, who had gotten loose. Trombley agreed to leave and not return.

About an hour later, officers were called back to the residence; the woman said that Trombley was again trying to get inside. He reportedly removed window screens and banged on the window, and tried to push open a window.

Officers found Trombley nearby; he said he was cold and had nowhere to sleep.

Court documents note that Trombley is "an imposing person," standing 6'8" and weighing nearly 250 pounds. Court documents also state that Trombley has no criminal history.

Trombley has been charged with attempted burglary (felony), stalking (misdemeanor), and criminal mischief (misdemeanor).
