BUTTE – Police in Butte will have extra patrols out this weekend and over the New Year’s holiday to make sure people don’t ring in the new year by drinking and driving.
Beginning Saturday evening and on into early Tuesday, police will have about 10 patrols out looking for drunk drivers.
With cold temperatures expected over the holiday weekend, police will also be watching out for people in distress due to the harsh elements.
“We’re out there looking for people in distress that might be too drunk to get themselves home, or some of the homeless people that are out there on a nightly basis to make sure that we can get them to a warm location,” said Butte Undersheriff George Skuletich.
Butte police remind people to always have a designated driver or take a cab if they have too much to drink.
