A fire burning in the mountains south of Boulder is approximately 13 acres and 75 percent contained.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the Dawson Fire is burning west of Highway 69 near the turnoff to Elkhorn.

Authorities had closed the White Bridge Lane between Highway 69 and Lower Valley Road so helicopters could pick up water without interruption, however, helicopter operations have ceased for now.

Ground crews from the Forest Service and Boulder-Bull Mountain Volunteer Fire are continuing to work the fire from the ground.

No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

We will update you when we get more information.
