The Bannack Fire, burning south of Bannack, has jumped to 151 acres, according to a press release from the Dillon Interagency Dispatch Center.

The fire was detected Tuesday afternoon around 2:40 p.m. Firefighters are working Wednesday to establish a containment line along the northern edge to keep the fire from advancing, as well as mopping up hot spots within the fire’s perimeter, the release said.

The Dispatch Center also gave updates on other small fires in the area:

  • The Lima Volunteer Fire Department has contained a small fire south of Clark Canyon Reservoir near the Bible Camp.
  • Two fires were found in the Cabin Creek area southeast of Dillon in the Blacktail area.
  • One fire was 1/10 of an acre and has been contained. The other fire was one acre.
  • Crews will continue to work to contain and control these two small fires Wednesday.

The release said people are reminded to be careful with all fires; be sure to extinguish campfires completely and to keep motorized vehicles on roads and trails.
