BUTTE – The Butte School District’s board of trustees is trying to get a $35 million bond issue for improvements at Butte’s middle school and elementary schools.
The bond will make upgrades to East Middle School including security improvements to all the elementary schools in the district. Officials with East Middle School say the upgrades are necessary to ensure the safety of the students.
“That’s the main focus of this is to update all the facilities to make sure we can have one point of access for all parents to come through and we can control who’s in the building and make sure there’s not just people coming in getting around the school,” East Middle School Vice Principal Ron Ricketts.
The bond issue will go before the voters in November.
