BUTTE, Mont. – A major department store in Butte had its last day of shopping today.
The Herberger’s store closes Wednesday evening after 24 years of operation at the Butte Plaza Mall. The store began its liquidation when it announced it would be closing its Butte location in April.
Many customers said they are sad to see the store go out of business.
“So it makes it real tough to get the things we need that we enjoy, and they’ve always had great employees and just good people, so it’s a sad day,” said Anaconda resident Dan Oberweiser.
Herberger’s was the last department store in the Butte mall after JC Penney’s closed there four years ago.
