BUTTE, Mont. – A priest in Butte believes politics has become too divisive and wants to bring civility back to public discourse.

Father Patrick Beretta has organized a forum in Butte Tuesday evening called “Dialogue and Democracy: Rediscovering Civility in an Age of Hyper-Partisanship.” The event will feature a panel of experts to talk about how people can respectfully talk about their political differences.
“Listening to them, being open, maybe being persuaded by them, and so that’s what I’d like to create. I want the tone of the evening to be thoughtful and warm and friendly and comfortable. It’s not going to be about politics, it’s going to be about communication,” Beretta said.
The event runs from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Montana Tech Library auditorium and it is free and open to the public.
