Butte walk-in flu shot program set for Tuesday

Posted

BUTTE, Mont. – Butte health officials are urging people to get their flu shots now.

The Butte Health Department recently held its annual walk-in flu shot program and has another planned for Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018. The program is designed to make it easy and convenient for people to get their shots.

Health officials say it’s necessary to get a flu shot every year to avoid getting sick and spreading the virus to others.

“It’s really important for people to get their flu shot every year, because it’s an annual vaccine, so it doesn’t last from year to year,” said Karen Maloughney, a nurse. “The flu shot really is your best defense against that seasonal influenza virus, which can make people really, really sick.

The next walk-in session will be held Tuesday, Oct. 23 at the health department on Front St. from noon to 5 p.m. It’s free for all uninsured people.
