BUTTE – A local organization that gives free lunches to the needy in Butte added a little Christmas spirit to Thursday’s luncheon.
The free lunch program at the Knights of Columbus held a Christmas dinner for the people they serve with a festive meal of pork and plenty of holiday fixings.
People were also given a present at the end of the meal.
Volunteers say they appreciate giving back to the needy this time of year.
“They come in smiling and cheerful, and I’m complaining because I slept on my bed wrong and these people don’t have a bed to sleep in. So it’s really humbling and it just reminds you just be kind,” said volunteer Kathy Parsons.
The food for the event was donated by the Butte Emergency Food Bank.
