BUTTE – Butte police swore in a new officer Wednesday morning to join the department in the new year.
The sheriff pinned the badge on 27-year-old Shaquille LeCoure to officially make him an officer with the Butte department in a ceremony in the courthouse Wednesday morning. LeCoure had worked in the ambulance service and as a dispatcher before deciding to become a police officer.
“Be here to help whoever I can, when I can, if I can be the guy to make someone’s day or week or month better, I want to be that guy. I feel like being in this position will help me to do that,” said LeCoure.
This will bring the department up to 51 officers.
