BUTTE – A long-time meat processing plant in Butte has opened a new butcher shop in an Uptown neighborhood.

Ranchland Packing started the shop in the historic Excelsior Groceries and Meats building on Excelsior Street after the building had been vacant for several years. The shop will sell meats processed locally and other groceries. The owner likes that the shop is in a restored building and able to serve an Uptown neighborhood.

“I love that historic aspect of this and this is a cool old building. It works good, it functions well for exactly what we’re doing,” said owner Justin Fisher.

It took them more than a year to refurbish the building for the new shop, which opened just before Christmas.
