BUTTE – Butte’s fourth annual film festival this week will feature 150 films from around the world.
“It’ll be our largest menu of films to choose from,” said event organizer Don Andrews.
The Covellite International Film Festival gets rolling Wednesday evening. Many of the films can be screened for free on-demand at locations in Uptown Butte.
“And then at our larger venues, everything is just $5, so we’re trying to make it as accessible as possible.”
said Andrews.
For this year’s festival, organizers moved it from September to the spring to make it more convenient for filmmakers and visitors.
“We hope the June weather is better than September weather for bringing people out,” said Andrews.
Organizers of this film festival note that this is a good time in the state of Montana for filmmakers ever since the state legislature adopted tax incentives for those who want to make films in Montana.
“Just by signing that bills there’s producers basically all over the country and the world looking at Montana as a viable place to do film,” said Andrews.
The festival will continue until Sunday.
