BUTTE — The Silver Bow Tavern Association’s request for fees to be waived was denied by the council of commissioners. With eight commissioners voting to deny the request, they reasoned that extending the closing time to 12:30 a.m. was an olive branch that other businesses don’t get the chance to have.
"You know we still have restrictions on other businesses, you know 50 percent of restaurants, that sort of thing so I just want to remind everybody that that was what the request was and I’m a bit surprised that, I’ll be honest that that was not adequate," said Cindi Shaw, the Butte-Silver Bow Council of Commissioners
Three commissioners voted to not deny the request citing that essential service businesses like Walmart aren’t suffering like these bars and casinos are. The commissioners also received criticism for giving in to the demands of these businesses.
