Work is urgently being done to find a vaccine for the coronavirus, and different reports estimate a possible vaccine may be available by the end of the year.
With the threat of possibly catching two major illnesses around the same time, many people are wondering if they’ll be able to get both the coronavirus and the flu vaccine or if they’ll have to pick between them.
Doctors at Bozeman Health say more testing is needed for a definite answer but as of now, it appears that people may be able to get both.
“There’s not enough evidence. The way they signed up our trial is that you could not have a flu vaccine within 14 days of the coronavirus vaccine. So, you know within the long term of a winter flu season, you should be able to get both vaccines just 14 days apart is all we ask,” explained Dr. Gentry with Bozeman Health.
The CDC says flu season typically peaks between December through February but cases can start much earlier and last all the way until May
