BUTTE — An underpass that goes under a busy section of Harrison Avenue in Butte is open to the public once again.
This underpass that goes under Harrison Avenue near the interstate on and off ramps was closed for a long time because it would get flooded by Blacktail Creek that runs alongside it.
The city recently removed the water and improved the drainage system, so pedestrians can now use it to avoid having to cross Harrison Avenue.
“It’s just a big safety concern that people had, I know we received letters up in my office to see if there was something that could be done, so Mark Neary and the public works crew, metro sewer did a good job and got it opened up again,” said Butte Chief Executive Dave Palmer.
This part of the walking trail connects Father Sheehan Park to the Butte Chamber of Commerce.
