Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon extended the closure of schools statewide and some businesses , including bars, dine-in restaurants, casinos, hair salons and other personal-services businesses, to the end of April.
The order also includes the ban of gatherings of more than 10 people in public places. The goal of the orders is to slow the spread of COVID-19, the disease caused by coronavirus, he said.
As of Friday, Wyoming had 166 COVID-19 cases in 17 counties. Also, 37 people have recovered.
Gordon made the announcement in a news conference broadcast on his Facebook page.
In addition, Gordon, along with Wyoming Health Officer Dr. Alexia Harrist, ordered out-of-state visitors to Wyoming to self-quarantine for 14 days. The order is meant to discourage travelers from coming to Wyoming, Gordon said.
Wyoming is one the few remaining state not to issue a stay-at-home order, which orders people to remain in their homes except for shopping for food or traveling to work.
