Butte will soon be doubling its fines for parking violations.
The Council of Commissioners approved the fine increase from $10 to $20.
Parking officials said it has been a long time since Butte raised its parking fine, and the new fine is still comparatively low.
“We're still less than other cities for those same kinds of infractions, but I think it's more with the times of what we need to, you know, cover the costs from our operations of enforcing,” said Parking Commission Director Karen Byrnes.
The new fees will go into effect on Oct. 1.
