BUTTE — The Butte-Silver Bow Parks and Recreation Department asks that the public stays off the ice at Skyline Park.
Officials say the water is 12-15 feet in depth in the middle of the pond and there is open water on the east end where the recirculated water returns. This makes for unsafe conditions where someone can easily fall through the ice. There are signs posted warning people to stay off the ice as well.
