Lame Deer man drowns on Northern Cheyenne Reservation

The Rosebud County Sheriff’s Office has identified Casey Whitedirt of Lame Deer as the man who drowned.

At 12:29 a.m. on Thursday, the Sheriff’s Office posted on Facebook:

We have been busy this evening assisting the Bureau of Indian Affairs, with a search for a drowning victim on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation.

The family has been very gracious and are standing by, while the searchers look for their loved one. Please keep them in your thoughts.

We are about to wrap up for the night and will be back in the morning.

The Sheriff’s Office said that searchers used a drone and a boat to locate the body, and Whitedirt was found at about 9:20 a.m. on Thursday.

Whitedirt was 24 years old.

The incident occurred at Crazy Head Springs on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in Rosebud County.

The Sheriff’s Office said: “Please keep the Whitedirt family in your thoughts.”
