A cold front pushes into Northwest Montana this morning.
Scattered showers begin in the Rockies before moving over the Rocky Mountain Front and into Central Montana this afternoon.
Storms develop this afternoon as we get a lot more sunshine and warmth which is one of many factors that helps storms grow stronger.
We are still having slight and marginal risks out for Central Montana for our severe weather outlook shown below:
Storms look to become develop to become strong to severe by about 1 or 2 pm.
These storms will move from the Capital City area and Southwest Montana first and move to the Northeast quickly through the afternoon.
Some stronger storms will move into Northeast Montana late this afternoon and may last until later this evening as well ( around 8-9 pm).

Another band of showers moves through behind the cold front late tonight/early tomorrow morning.
These late night/early morning showers will also add higher rain totals in some localized areas.
This means some areas could be hit with localized downpours from this afternoons storms and from the overnight wave of rain which will create some localized flooding concerns.
After the cold front pushes through late tonight, temperatures take a big drop.
Rain turns to snow in upper elevations so expect rapidly changing conditions in the upper elevation backcountry recreation areas!
Temperatures take a 15-20 degree drop tomorrow in lower elevations, but no snow is expected below about 5,500 feet.
