State wildlife officials report that another white-tailed deer is suspected to have chronic wasting disease (CWD) in Libby.
If confirmed by lab tests it would mark the sixth case of CWD in the Libby area.
The first case west of the Continental Divide was reported within the Libby city limits in May.
The latest sample was collected from a road-killed doe along U.S. Highway 2 near Flower Creek.
A lab in Colorado will run further tests to confirm the CWD infection.
Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks has submitted 66 samples (59 white-tailed deer, six mule deer, and one moose) for CWD testing.
