BUTTE - Six lucky high school seniors - three from Butte High and three from Butte Central - were each given visa gift cards valued at $1,000 today outside the Butte Chamber of Commerce for them to spend locally on whatever they want.

This was part of a promotion put together by Father Patrick Beretta and Town Pump in which the six seniors were picked by a random drawing as a way to show appreciation for enduring such a challenging year.

“Through this we're able to recognize them, we're also able to teach them the importance of supporting their local businesses, to shop local, to stay local, to dine local, and so they have been blessed with $1,000 in visa gift cards that they can go do just that,” said Butte Chamber Director Stephanie Sorini.

The chamber says this gift will put money back into Butte's economy which has struggled during the coronavirus outbreak.
