Cold front to bring snow and wind by Wednesday morning

BUTTE – Next weather maker is pushing into Western Montana Tuesday afternoon as Pacific cold front rolls through Montana.

For SW Montana look for increasing snow and wind with the cold front passing through between 8 pm Tuesday for Butte and around midnight for Bozeman. Scattered snow is likely to continue overnight into Wednesday morning with wintry impacts for your Wednesday morning commute.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY:

The National Weather Service office in Missoula has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Butte/Blackfoot region from 9 pm Tuesday to noon Wednesday.

Snow accumulations: Valleys 2″ – 4″ of snow is possible including Butte with 4″ – 6″ of snow over mountain passes like Homestake Pass, MacDonald Pass and in the Georgetown Lake area.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY:

The Great Falls National Weather Service office has also issued a Winter Weather Advisory for SW Montana east of the divide including Bozeman, Dillon, Ennis, and West Yellowstone.

Snow accumulations: Valleys 1″ – 3″ and higher mountains 5″ – 10″.

Wind gusts to 30 mph will produce localized areas of blowing snow and difficult travel with lower visibility.

Localized gusty winds over 30 mph are possible with the cold tonight and could produce some blowing snow and lower visibility issues for those traveling.

BOZEMAN: LOW: 11°; HIGH WEDNESDAY: 25°. Snow is likely Tuesday evening for Bozeman.  Scattered snow will impact the Wednesday morning commute but snow should diminish by Wednesday evening. Snow accumulations of 1″ – 4″ is possible for Bozeman. NW winds 15 mph.

BUTTE: LOW: 12°; HIGH WEDNESDAY: 27°. Snow likely tonight into Wednesday morning. Scattered snow to continue into Wednesday morning but should diminish by late afternoon. Snow accumulations of 2″ – 4″ is possible. NW winds 15 mph.

DILLON: LOW: 12°; HIGH WEDNESDAY: 26°. Scattered snow and gusty winds for Dillon Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning. Snow accumulations of 1″ – 4″ is possible. NW winds 10 to 20 mph.

WEST YELLOWSTONE: LOW: 5°; HIGH WEDNESDAY: 31°. Scattered snow and gusty winds Tuesday evening through Wednesday afternoon for West Yellowstone. Snow accumulations of 1″ – 4″ is possible. NW winds 10 to 20 mph.
