BOZEMAN – Weather pattern changes occur frequently this time of year and although temperatures jumped into the 70s Wednesday afternoon a much cooler weather pattern moves across Montana Thursday.

The next weather maker is another deep trough of Low-pressure digging into the pacific NW Wednesday and will slide over Montana Thursday. This storm system will bring periods of showers and gusty winds along with higher mountain Thursday night and several thunderstorms Friday.

This storm system is a slower moving storm and that means we will be dealing with it through Saturday morning.

Temperatures will drop off well below normal beginning Thursday so grab your fall jackets before heading to work or school Thursday and Friday. Most forecast highs will be in the low to mid 50s Thursday and Friday and morning dropping down into the 30s.

Next week a re-building High-pressure ridge will produce warmer highs and chilly morning lows.

Mountain snow is likely across SW Montana Thursday night through Saturday morning. Early snowfall estimates are above 7,000' with several inches possible. This could change. If you plan to be in the backcountry please be prepared for chilly, wet, and windy conditions.
