Today's Forecast: Dry but smoky in southwest Montana. Air quality alerts are out for most of southwest Montana with air quality readings in the unhealthy range. Highs today will be in the 70s and low 80s with a light southeast wind between 5-10 mph.

BOZEMAN: High: 83; Low: 48. Smoke-filled skies and dry conditions across the region with a light southeast wind between 5-10 mph.

BUTTE: High: 75; Low: 43. Smoky skies and filtered sunshine as a result of that smoke.

DILLON: High: 82; Low: 42. Warm but smokey skies with a light southerly wind.

WEST YELLOWSTONE: High: 80; Low: 35. Warm but smoky today under cloudless skies.

Extremely dry in SW Montana: The water year starts on October 1st every year, but there is little hope for making up the 3”-5” deficit that we have for the water year before September ends. We do have a couple chances for rain between now and then, but rainfall amounts will be nowhere near enough to erase the deficits leaving our drought conditions among the most concerning in the state.
