BOZEMAN – Hot dry weather started today across Montana with a building High-pressure ridge pattern. Temperatures climbed into the upper 80s to mid 90s locally Monday afternoon.

No change to this pattern for Tuesday but beginning Wednesday a Pacific trough and a mostly dry cold front will sweep across the state leading to increased fire weather concerns.

Surface winds will likely increase ahead of this storm system Wednesday into Thursday and combined with several hot and dry weather days fire danger will become elevated so look for possible fire weather warnings Wednesday.

The good news is once this mostly dry cold front passes through a cooler weather pattern will return by the end of the week with temperatures falling down closer to seasonal averages beginning Thursday through the upcoming weekend.
