Southwest Montana will see another mild and mainly dry day with plenty of sunshine across the region. A few isolated afternoon thunderstorms remain possible near the mountains along the Montana/Idaho state line, but most valley locations stay dry through tonight. Wildfire smoke and haze continue to create air quality concerns at times, especially during the morning and evening hours in lower elevations. Afternoon west to northwest winds will increase between 10 and 20 mph in many areas, creating elevated fire weather concerns.
BOZEMAN: High: 81; Low: 51. Mostly sunny and warm today with dry conditions expected through the afternoon. West to northwest winds increase to around 10 to 15 mph later today. Areas of smoke and haze may reduce visibility and air quality at times, especially early this morning and again overnight. Mostly clear skies continue tonight.
BUTTE: High: 82; Low: 49. Sunny skies and warmer temperatures return today with dry weather expected for most locations. Northwest winds increase between 10 and 20 mph during the afternoon and evening hours. Lingering wildfire smoke may occasionally impact visibility and air quality. Mostly clear tonight with cool overnight temperatures.
DILLON: High: 84; Low: 52. Mostly sunny and warm with dry conditions continuing through the day. West winds increase between 10 and 20 mph this afternoon with occasional higher gusts possible in open areas. Hazy skies remain possible due to regional wildfire smoke. Mostly clear conditions return tonight.
WEST YELLOWSTONE: High: 77; Low: 42. Partly sunny skies with a slight chance of an isolated afternoon or evening thunderstorm. Southwest winds increase between 10 and 20 mph this afternoon with gusts near 25 mph possible at times. Smoke and haze may occasionally reduce visibility. Cooler temperatures continue overnight with partly cloudy skies.
UNSETTLED WEATHER PATTERN LATER THIS WEEK
Southwest Montana will continue with highs in the low and middle 80s through through Thursday with a slightly more active weather pattern moving into place across the region. Afternoon thunderstorm chances will stay isolated and mainly confined to the mountains with a few storms spilling into the plains. Much cooler air will filter in by the weekend leaving a few areas with highs in the 60s by Sunday.
