BOZEMAN – Watch for big changes in the weather pattern through early next week. We start off with a High-pressure ridge and a warm front on Wednesday. This will kick temperatures up into the 60s and a few lower 70s are possible Wednesday afternoon.

NEXT WEATHER MAKER

The next weather maker will be a pair of cold fronts. The first front will move into western Montana by Thursday morning and slowly pass through the state by Friday afternoon. Right behind this system is a colder core trough that will knock temperatures down significantly by the weekend.

Pacific moisture is also wrapped up in both storm systems so there will be several rounds of off-and-on rain or snow along with gusty surface winds. Snow levels will lower down to 5,000’ Saturday and most lower valley floors could see a rain/snow mix this weekend. North facing slopes could see moderate to heavy snow accumulations this weekend.

The National Weather Service office in Missoula is warning us that there could be 1' to 3' feet of snow over mountain ranges along the MT/ID state line Thursday through early next week.

Mountain passes in SW Montana will be impacted with slushy accumulations or wet roads turning icy this weekend especially Saturday night into Sunday morning.

A strong WNW flow aloft will also produce stronger surface winds, especially along the Rocky mountain front and adjacent plains Friday through Sunday.

Your STORMTracker weather team will continue to update the changing conditions later this week and narrow down timing, intensity, and location of rain and snow and possible winter weather highlights from the National Weather Service so check back with us frequently on-line and on our STORMTracker Weather mobile app.
