BOZEMAN – A northerly flow aloft will keep temperatures slightly cooler than normal for the rest of the week. The Polar Jet stream will pave the way for a face paced cold front to drop through the state late Tuesday into Wednesday morning.
This system will bring another shot of snow but it will also produce stronger surface winds that could produce areas of blowing snow and lower visibility especially in high wind prone regions.
The National Weather Service issued a WIND ADVISORY and a HIGH WIND WARNING for the Livingston and Big Timber areas from 11 pm Monday night through 11 pm Tuesday evening.
This high wind prone region could see peak surface wind gusts to 60 mph.
Snow accumulations should be on the light side for SW Montana Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning. Most lower valleys could see around 1 inch with most mountain passes possibly picking up 1” – 5” of snow.
Morning commute will be impacted Wednesday with scattered snow and gusty winds and pockets of blowing snow.
